Upcoming Release!

We are proud to announce our first release of 2020 from our friend D. Bissette. Daniel is responsible for one of our favorite 7”s, Bent Dynasties, as well as many other rare and beautiful gems like a split with Ruth Garbus, and a Feeding Tube Records release as half of Wampum Physics. This tape is a notable departure in tone. Gothic and lo fi electronic elements are stirred into these recordings, and each side of the conveys a different feel. Danny collaborated with numerous musicians on this one, including many friends of ours like Ted Lee from Feeding Tube and J. P. S. Agresta; Joey makes a number of appearances and those familiar will notice recognize what he adds to several tracks on this album. This is a great tape to listen to while driving around at night<3 We’ll have it up on our Bandcamp very soon. Hope you all enjoy!

Grahzzy on Rebel Gaming Club

This week, our artist in residence Grahzzy made an appearance on the youtube. The show is Rebel Gaming Club, which is created by another local musician legend, Dan O’Day of the River City Rebels, Mock Title, Union Guns of ’62, and more. On the show they document thrift store finds, play music, say swears, do jokes, and other general shenanigans. This show doesn’t have a performance by Graham, but his presence and commentary is great none the less. Very much worth checking out this bit of local flavor that made it’s way into cyberspace.

The Vinyl Loft

Me and Chris of the podcast known as The Vinyl Loft.

This past weekend, or actually the one before, I had the distinct privilege of co-DJ-ing on the podcast The Vinyl Loft. The Vinyl loft is the premiere vinyl-centric podcast in our bio-reigon. Chris kindly invited me over instagram, and I enthusiastically accepted. It’s not every day I get to share the music I love so dearly with a sizable audience–I usually just dole it to out one person at a time– so I jumped at the chance. Chris creates a diverse and beautifully curated podcast. It’s well populated with classics from genres I am fond of, and it has all the pops and crackles that a proper record ought to have. It was exciting to hear what I’d brought nestled in among gems from the past, and I was thrilled at how well it all fit. We had more in common musically than I’d realized, and hilariously, my friend Dave Williams had co hosted a month earlier and I never even knew. It was just a great time, and well worth a listen. I consider it a great introduction–possibly the best I’ve heard–to the music of the Upper Valley.

What’s Missing?

Our new set up at Hanover Strings

We have a physical storefront! In a collaborative move, we have joined forces with What Doth Life to bring you musical offerings from the Upper Valley and beyond.

Hanover Strings approached us a few months ago, interested in giving us a spot on their sales floor. We had plenty of records, tapes, and CDs accumulated, so we naturally set yes. We’ve spent a few months pulling things together, but we’ve got it looking pretty nice. There’s also swag, like stickers and Oh Yous, plus T shirts and pins.

This won’t put an end to me selling records at First Fridays in White River Junction. That’s where I will sell the majority of my older records–stuff from Philo and other bygone New England Record Labels. I’ll also, of course, offer the new stuff, cause I love getting it out there!

Here are directions to Hanover Strings if you need them.

Our Next Record<3

Hello world!! We are over the moon to be able to announce our next release; It’s by our good friend Joey Agresta. He’s serving up a few gorgeous new analogue tracks on 7″. The songs were put down on 2″ tape, then mastered to 1/4″ tape. The lacquering process was fully analogue, so the whole process was done without computers. We pressed 100 black copies and 100 cola brown copies, and by the looks, they may not stick around long.

The release show will be with Jeffrey Lewis and Los Bolts at the Main Street Museum on Sunday, November 25th. Until then, you can pre-order Joey’s 7″ from our Bandcamp at thecaseofthemissingrecords.bandcamp.com .

Digital downloads and whatnot. Get ’em while they’re hot!

Selling Records in Town

Greetings! Just for you, my fine people, I have a few updates:

First, as of late, I’ve been selling records out of a cardboard box every First Friday in White River Junction. There’s a vendor fair that goes on in the old bingo hall, which is now called Newberry Market. In addition to The Case of the Missing Records releases, I’ve also bought an inventory of records from local bands I like. Plus, I have a small collection of relics from Vermont’s former record labels, this thanks in large part to Mountain Man Music of Rutland, VT. I’m working on growing my selection, so any suggestions of what I should have are appreciated. Unfortunately, I won’t be there in July, but  you will find me there in August!

Secondly, our next release is coming along. It’ll be a short run 7″, although possibly one of our bigger releases at 250 copies. The hint I’ll give is that it’s a friend of ours who sometimes goes by the name of a famous food. More details will be forthcoming once I get the test pressings..

Lastly, I have less than 25 copies of No Focus by The Pilgrims left. This kind of blows my mind, but I hoped would happen. Once they are gone, folks will have to go to the record stores (Mountain Man Music, Burlington Records, Pure Pop, Turn It Up, and Autumn Records so far) in order to find them. This is why I like short runs of records: the people who buy them and the stores that carry them have something worthwhile right away, and without me having to distribute like a madman.

That is all for the time being, my friends. So long for now, and thanks for staying tuned!

P.S. Can anyone find me a wooden crate I can use instead of this cardboard box?

Release Show!

Even though we already have The Pilgrims – No Focus and The Caring Babies – Songs About German Chocolate Cake available for sale, we’ve decided to have a proper release party at the Windsor Station in Windsor, Vermont. We’re going to do this thing up in style, and we hope to have you there!

Livin’ the Life!

Hey! We’re lookin’ sharp and we’re livin’ the life, surrounded by some records we had pressed. In addition to the new Pil-rums release, we also have the second vinyl installment in the Caring Baubles catalog for sale! It’s on delicious caramel flavored, oops, I mean caramel colored vinyl. Don’t eat them, I know it’s tempting. We also have a keen sense that something is coming up down the line… I can’t tell you much, because it takes like 4 months to press a record, and I don’t want all the excitement to wear right off, JEEZ!
